Many of the following clinics are "hands-on." You must be a member of USA Water Ski to participate in any of the "hands-on" clinics. Please make sure you wear the proper attire and bring the proper equipment, as necessary, so you can participate in these clinics. You will find our staff of instructors includes many of the top professional and amateur show skiers in the country. Feel free to ask questions. Your feedback will help guide them through the clinic.

Pyramids

Saturday

8:00 AM - 9:50 AM

Grand Ballroom

The greatest team act in show skiing. During this clinic you will see how to begin the very basics of pyramid climbing. Once that is complete, instructors will move on to three-tier and four-tier pyramids. Different climbing techniques will be discussed, along with safety, and knowing when your team is ready to take the next step to a bigger pyramid. Teams are requested to come together, and work together as a team. This way you will be prepared to hit the water together back home. Show Driving

Laguna Vista

Anyone can jump in a boat, slam the throttle down, and turn the steering wheel, but there is so much more to driving towboat than that. Hans Hauschild, NSSA Driver Committee Chair, Kurt Bemman NSSA Driver Committee Member, and NSSA Policy and Procedures Chair, along with Jim Martin NSSA Safety Chair will help you navigate through the new rules and regulations for show driving, all with an emphasis on keeping your skiers safe. Learn the tricks of the trade to drive great patterns, help your skiers ski their best, make your show flow better. This seminar will also cover all of the changes made to the Tested Driver Program. Instructors will help you keep your team up to date with all the new information and requirements for sanctions.

Instructors will lead discussion focusing on proper equipment, body position, and technique for the very basic moves. If you plan on attending the other swivel clinics, stop here to make sure you possess the proper technique to do more intermediate and advanced moves. Jumping on the Trampoline

Conference Center I

Jon Hovda, owner of Saga (Skiing And Gymnastics Academy) Sports, will teach you how to properly train on the trampoline. You will learn the the mechanics of aerial tricks for wakeboard, freestyle jump, and kneeboard. You will get one-on-one instruction on the trampoline, so come prepared to work.

 

Beginning Doubles

Grand Ballroom

New instructional techniques will be utilized to teach basic form. Learn how to achieve the "proper lines" the judges are looking for. If you and your partner have been stuck in a rut, and canít seem to progress...stop here and make sure youíre using the proper technique. Instruction will cover everything from choosing a good partner, to the proper technique for all the basic moves. Instructors will also spend time on "best practices" and safe ways to progress with your partner to more challenging maneuvers. Start here for a GREAT foundation.

Learn to design barefoot acts that maximize the talents of your individual skiers. Learn how to improve the flow of the act while providing the best barefoot conditions possible for a great fast-paced show act.

 

Show Driving 101

You're thinking of volunteering to drive one of the tow boats for your team. There is so much to consider. This seminar is for you! Learn what you need to know, how to go about getting tested, and what's in store for your future as a Tow Boat Driver. Hans Hauschild, Chairman of the NSSA Drivers Committee, and Kurt Bemman long time member of the NSSA Drivers Committee are both Driver Examiner's. Together, they will lead you through, what you need to know, what you need to do, and how you need to do it, to pass your driver's exam and get in front of the acts you will be towing.

 

Intermediate Swivel

The focal point of intermediate swivel will be on the remaining 180 tricks and basic 360 tricks. Instructors will discuss proper body position and techniques to successfully complete these moves. If you plan on attending the advanced swivel clinic, you may want to stop here to make sure you have the proper foundation for the advanced swivel tricks. Bring your ski and rope. You must be a member of USA Water Ski to participate.

Laguna Vista

You can't have a successful announcer without a sound crew working hand-in-hand with him or her. This seminar will cover the how-to's of getting the best out of your sound team and equipment. You will learn the in's and out's of greating drama and intensity through sound with music and special effects. Add another level of entertainment to your show. The instructors will also discuss computerizing your sound system and how to edit music to make it fit your show.

2:30 PM - 3:20 PM

Laguna Vista

Not only will you learn how to build excitement, incorporate acts into a theme, keep the show going, and integrate music and dialogue into your show, but you will also learn how the announcer and sound crew work together to make it happen. Learn how to direct the audience and keep the show moving even during the roughest of ski shows!

 

Intermediate Doubles

3:30 PM - 5:20 PM

Grand Ballroom

This clinic will take the basic lifts to the next level. The focus will be on creating a routine for a show that has the proper angles for good showmanship, and spectator appeal. Instruction will include proper technique for transition from one move to the next, while making it appear effortless. Instructors will also cover proper lines for the intermediate lifts.

 

Advanced Swivel

The focal point of this clinic will be the advanced swivel tricks. Instructors will cover the proper foundation for learning and performing these moves, while incorporating them into a routine that fits your level of expertise. Bring your ski and rope.

Members of the award winning Aquanut ballet line will discuss choreography for ballet lines as well as other acts in the show. Learn how to choreograph an easy dance routine for your team to perform in 2012.

Members of the award winning Aquanut ballet line will help you maximize the talents of your girls on the water. Instructors will take you off the dock and back into main stage, while showing you the techniques that make them award-winning ballet lines year after year.

This clinic will focus on the act. You will learn how to utilize the individual talent on your team to create the best possible team jump act. Instructors will cover the do's and don'ts of a jump act, what order to perform your jumps in, when to re-run a failed jump, and how to tighten up flow for the best possible score. Learn how to maximize your teams jump difficulty scores by using the difficulty chart.

 

Advanced Doubles

The focus in this clinic will be the advanced moves, and transitions. Instructors will cover proper technique for completing these moves on the water, making them look effortless with a partner who is of compatible size.

A staple act in every show. Everyone knows it as the Big Act. Instructors, from an assortment of top rated clubs, will cover the how-to's of the trios and conventional doubles moves. They will also discuss proper presentation angles, and the best moves to maximize the talent of your team. You will also receive a sheet on what moves can be performed.
